Oval Fencing Change to Allow Additional Pedestrian Access

Ohio State Energy Partners (OSEP), ENGIE Services and The Ohio State University began work in April to repair or replace 3,000 feet of aging utilities underneath The Oval. Multiple phases of fencing are required on The Oval to support safety. In anticipation of autumn semester, additional pedestrian access was opened on Friday, August 10. A portion of fencing was removed to allow pedestrians to utilize the long walk to travel east and west through the center of The Oval. The project is expected to continue into November. Once complete, reduced fencing will be required to support landscape restoration.

In addition, separate construction at nearby Jennings Hall has shifted pedestrian traffic to the east side of Neil Avenue between John Herrick Drive and 11th Avenue, as the west side will be closed.

Please exercise caution when traveling near construction zones and follow the instructions of traffic and safety officers.
